How to Change the ‘Press Home to Unlock’ Text in iOS 10 Lockscreen

With the introduction of iOS 10, there are many things that we have to adapt to. Many users aren’t used to the new features and pages that Apple added to their lock screen when upgrading to the latest iOS 10 version.

You now have the Widgets page which contains tons of useful and not so useful information. Furthermore, the Slide to Unlock and camera shortcut are no longer in the place it used to be.

We published a tutorial on how to get the regular Slide to Unlock function back in iOS 10. Now, we want to help you change the custom text on the lock screen of your iOS 10. If you ever felt like changing the “Press Home to Unlock” text to a custom message, here is how you would do it.

How to Edit Lock Screen Text in iOS 10

  1. Launch Cydia
  2. Reload the BigBoss repository so that it’s up-to-date
  3. Install a tweak called Lockscreen Custom Text iOS10 (by 155matt)
  4. Respring your iPhone or iPad

Once the tweak is installed, go to your Settings app. Scroll down until you see the preference page of Lockscreen Custom Text iOS10. From there, you will be able to enable the tweak by switching the toggle on. After that, enter a custom text that you wish to display whenever you turn on your iPhone lock screen.

In case you want to remove the text entirely from the lock screen, just leave the Lockscreen Text: field empty.

Please note that the text you enter will only replace the default ‘Press Home To Unlock’ text. It will not change how the feature behavior or work. There are many other tweaks like this for your lock screen, but so far, this is the only package that will work with your jailbroken iOS 10 devices.

Give it a try and let us know. If you want to give your iPhone or iPad a major overhaul, check out these tweaks here.
