How To Fix Apple Watch Showing Wrong Time and Date (3 Solutions)

Have you recently set up your new Apple Watch and noticed that the time zone and date are displaying incorrectly?

When you set up your Apple Watch, it usually detects your current location and adjusts your time zone automatically. However, sometimes you must manually select your time and date settings.

If your Apple Watch is showing the wrong time & date, follow the steps below to troubleshoot it.

Fix #1: Enabling Location Services

To activate location services, you will need your iPhone.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Find Privacy.
  3. Tap on Location Services.

Confirm that the Location Services feature is turned on. If it’s disabled, you’ll need to enable it.

On that same setting page, make sure to check that it is configured correctly with the Watch. To do so, Tap on the Apple Watch Faces and verify this is set to ‘While Using the App.’

Location Services is an essential feature that allows your Apple Watch to automatically update to the correct time zone based on your current location.

If you’ve recently relocated and your watch still displays the old time zone, it’s worth looking at this particular setting.

Fix #2: Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

For your Apple Watch to operate correctly, it’s important that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both enabled.

Activating these two features is a straightforward process:

  1. For Bluetooth, go to the Settings app > Bluetooth > Tap on the slider to make it green

If you want to confirm that the Bluetooth connection is established between your iPhone and Apple Watch, follow the step-by-step guide below.

  1. On your Apple Watch, swipe up on the Watch Face.
  2. Swipe left or right until you locate the Settings Glance.
  3. Once you’re on the Settings Glance page, you’ll be able to verify if your devices are Connected or Disconnected.
  4. Additionally, make sure that Airplane mode is disabled, as this feature should not be turned on at this time.

If you discover that your iPhone and Apple Watch are not connected, follow these steps to re-establish the connection:

  1. Return to the Bluetooth page located within the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Check the “My Devices” section to see if your Apple Watch is listed.
  3. Tap on your Apple Watch from the list of devices to establish a connection. You should see the status change from “Not Connected” to “Connected.”

Fix #3: Restart iPhone and Apple Watch

After completing the steps above, your Apple Watch should display the correct timezone and date. If not, the next step is to power off and power on both devices.

Restarting BOTH your iPhone and Apple Watch can often resolve the issue. This simple fix is often the quickest solution and can save you a lot of time.

To restart your devices, follow the steps below:

For iPhone:

  1. Press the Power button until you see “Slide to power off”.
  2. Drag it all the way to the right.
  3. You can tell if it is now turned off by having no display.
  4. Finally, Press and hold the same button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo appears.

For your Apple Watch:

  1. Press and Hold the Side Button until you see the Power Off slider.
  2. Drag the slider to turn off your Apple Watch completely.
  3. Press and hold the side button again to turn it back on.

At this point, your iPhone and Apple Watch should begin syncing, and the issue of incorrect date and time on the Apple Watch should be resolved.
