I love sending videos to my friends and family through iMessage. I can send them cute videos of my dog running around. However, one problem with this feature is that sometimes the video quality isn’t as good as it should be.
Are you having similar issues where the video you received via iMessage is blurry, small, or pixelated?
Whatever the case may be, there are many ways you can try and fix this issue!
Use Wi-Fi instead of Cellular Data
Many people receive low-quality videos (blurry or pixelated) because their iPhone is using Cellar Data.
Perhaps you have a poor cellular connection, which prevents the device from receiving high resolution videos.
To resolve this issue, connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network and request that your friend send you the video again.
Disable Optimize iPhone Storage
When you send an image or video message to someone using iMessage on your iPhone, it gets compressed to use less space. However, some photos and videos can become blurry after compression.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on iCloud > Photos.
- Go to iCloud Photos.
- Select Download and Keep Originals (this will de-select the Optimize iPhone Storage option).
Disable Low-Quality Image Mode
Similarly, you should also disable the Low-Quality Image Mode for your iMessage.
This feature can be found in your Settings app > Messages (scroll down to the bottom of the screen).
