How to Fix Snapchat Not Working on iPhone After Jailbreak

Is the Snapchat app on your iOS device crashing or not opening at all? Don’t worry because this is happening to a lot of users as well.

First of all, Let’s learn why the app is not working.

For the past couple of years, Snapchat has been battling with users who uses third-party apps or jailbreak tweaks along with their official Snapchat account. With the app being “not flawless” the motive behind this are many. Take the screenshot notification as an example. If you ever take a screenshot of a snap, conversation, or story, it will notify the original poster.

Another good example would be the Discover section. I found it full of click-bait, and the feature consumes too much of my mobile data. The only solution to these problems is using a Cydia tweak like Snap + or Phantom for Snapchat. However, Snapchat claims that these tweaks can cause serious security issues, that’s why they want to prevent you from using it.

How are they enforcing their rules? By not letting you login into your Snapchat account or crash right upon launching. In this article, we will show how to fix problems with your Snapchat app.

How to Fix Snapchat on Jailbroken devices

If you want to use your Snapchat app after jailbreaking the device, you might want to bypass the restriction first.

  1. Open Cydia
  2. Install a tweak called tsProtector 8+ (iOS 9 & 8)
  3. Respring
  4. Go to the Settings app
  5. Navigate to Black List Apps
  6. Find Snapchat and switch the toggle to green (On)

By performing the steps above, you will be able to use Snapchat again on your jailbroken iPhone. The same method can also be applied to other iOS apps with jailbreak detection.

Snapchat Connectivity Problems

Naturally, Snapchat uses a lot of our internet data. It continuously fetches the app for the latest information including new messages, story updates, and alerts. You will notice right away when it has connection issues.

Errors will start popping up. For example:

Could not connect. Please check your connection and try again

Here are a few solutions to the connection errors on Snapchat.

  1. Make sure you have a working internet or mobile data
  2. Turn off your Wi-Fi and turn it back on
  3. Open App Switcher and force close Snapchat
  4. Restart your iOS device

Snapchat Keeps Crashing

Snapchat don’t normally crash unless if you have installed jailbreak tweaks like the one we mentioned above. The guide above should help you resolve the problem.

In case the app still crashes even if you didn’t jailbreak your device before then hopefully some of the steps below will help.

  1. Delete Snapchat and re-install it from the App Store
  2. Turn off your iPhone and turn it back on
  3. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and grab the latest iOS version

Of all the apps have on my iOS device, Snapchat tends to have the least problems, but hey nothing is perfect right? Let us know in the comment section below if you continue to have issues with the app.

Fix “Could Not Connect” Error in iOS 11

Credit: TechReview on YouTube

I know there is no jailbreak for iOS 11 yet. However, this is a new problem on Snapchat that’s worth a mention. Some users after updating to iOS 11 were unable to login into their Snapchat account. The exact error message says, “Could Not Connect. Please check your connection and try again.”

We are not exactly sure what caused this to happen, but if you updated to v10.10.2.0 from the App Store, most likely this popup will be displayed to you at least once. The current solution to it is to delete Snapchat and re-install it.

Snapchat Requires Newest App Version

Recently, some users have reported another error message when trying to logging into their Snapchat account.

Here’s the popup:

You’re using a version of Snapchat or operating system that’s no longer supported. Please upgrade your device’s operating system and update to the newest app version to use Snapchat. Thanks!

As stated above, to get rid of this Snapchat warning, you need to update your Snapchat app to the latest version. Also, upgrade to the newest firmware as well (Settings > General > Software Update). For non-jailbroken users, this is a piece of cake since you have nothing to lose.

However, for jailbroken users, updating to the latest iOS version means losing your jailbreak. If you want to bypass that, an additional tweak may be required. We recommend Xcon, tsProtector, or Phantom for Snapchat.
