How to Fix “Verification Failed! There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server”

I just bought a new iPad, and after the initial setup the iPad asks for my Apple ID password, then to enter my iPad passcode, so far no problem. But then I need to enter my iPhone passcode and when I enter the passcode the following error pops up “Verification Failed! There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server.”

I’m sure the password is correct, also I deactivated the passcode from my iPhone, and the iPad still wants me to enter the iPhone passcode. Both my devices are updated to the latest software 13.6.

Solution #1: Restore your iPad to Factory Settings

Connect to a laptop to put the iPad in DFU mode to restore it to factory settings, Then set it back up without a back up enabled and it should solve the issue.

Solution #2: Reboot your Wi-Fi Router

Do a Forced Restart of your iPad and also reboot your WiFi Router.

The iPhone password is linked to your Apple ID through two step verification, it may be a password for your old phone that was logged into your Apple ID, sometimes you may get that message if it cannot connect to your phone via Wi-Fi/internet.
