4 Best Free Apps to Watch Live TV on iPhone Without Jailbreak

In this modern days, as long as we have our iPhone with us, pretty much everything is accessible. If you want to watch something funny, go on YouTube. Missing out on trending topics? There are Twitter and Instagram.

Although free entertainment is all around us and inside our iOS device, sometimes we missed the feeling of watching traditional TV. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford pricey subscription from HBO and other similar channels.

If you decided it’s time to go cordless, I’ve found some great solutions for you. The apps below will let you watch any Live TV network and channels for free, right from your iPhone and iPad. All that’s required is a reliable internet connection. If you’re on the go, be sure to check these tips before you start using any of the apps below.

Channels

I came across this app after it was shared on the r/iPAHub subreddit. At first, the description was too good to be true. After testing it out, Channels does what its developer advertises, allowing iPhone users to watch live TV for free on their device.

As of right now, the app is divided into three sections: Sports, Lifestyle, and Kids. When you open the app, it gives you a variety of channels:

  • Sky Sports
  • Fox Sports
  • Box Nation
  • Comedy Central
  • MTV
  • Discovery Channel
  • Disney Channel
  • and many more.

To Install Channels on your iOS device

  1. Click here to download the Channels .IPA file
  2. Grab the latest version of Cydia Impactor from this post
  3. Connect your iOS device to the computer
  4. Generate a App-Specific password from the Apple Login page
  5. Open up Cydia Impactor and drag-n-drop the .IPA file to it
  6. Enter your Apple ID (email address and the password from Step 4

Now you just have to wait for Cydia Impactor to sideload the application.

The only downside of Channels is that it requires you to watch a short ad video before proceeding to a channel. This will always happen when you switch from one channel to another as well. But hey, there are ads on actual TV as well. This is a free app, so it doesn’t bother me if I have to watch a few ads here and there.

AeroTV

Unlike Channels, AeroTV less limited in TV networks and channels. Currently, they have sports channels including SkySports, beIN SPORTS, and several others. If you’re into kids channels, AeroTV may just be a perfect choice. You will be able to watch Disney Channel, Disney Junior, CN (Cartoon Network), and Nickelodeon.

As for news and movies, AeroTV provides CNN, Fox News, Comedy Central, The CW, HBO, TNT, AMC, and the list goes on. You can explore it for yourself by downloading the app from here.

Live Wire

Live Wire houses mostly Sky Sports channels. In addition to sports, this app also has Discovery channel, Sky One, Sky Movies Premier, and SyFy. If you’re a fan of the Sky networks, this is a go-to app for you.

As for customizations and settings, you can change the theme of Live Wire, fundamentally changing the primary color that you like best. You can also purchase Live Wire Plus, a subscription-based model that will get you free support and updates from the developer.

You can download the Live Wire .IPA file from here.

Slick TV

I think Slick has just become my favorite live TV app because its interface is very easy to use, the app provides a lot of different categories and channels. Fewer ads than most free television apps out there.

When Slick TV is installed on your iPhone, all it takes is three taps to get you to the right spot. First, pick your category. It ranges from Sports, News, Lifestyle, to Adults. Then, select your channel of choice. Each section will have at least about two channels for you to choose from.

Download the IPA for Slick TV from here.

Editor’s Note

To install any of the apps above, you’re going to need a computer, a sideloading tool like Cydia Impactor, and open this article just in case any errors pop up on your screen. I’m currently on iOS 10.3.2 and everything is working fine. If you have any trouble, comment down below.

You should only utilize these free TV apps for trial purposes. After all, these companies still need money to fund for your favorite shows and events. You should check out additional premium apps such as SHOWTIME, ABC, NBC, FXNow, or ask your provider if they have an official app to watch on the go.
