How to Install AppSync Unified for iOS 9.3.3 – iOS 10.2

Nowadays, anyone can install third-party apps and emulators without having to use the date trick to bypass Apple’s restrictions. Thanks to the help of Cydia Impactor, it makes the whole thing less complicated. The only problem with self-signed certificates is they only last for seven (7) days. After expiration, your sideloaded apps will crash upon opening. To get them to work again, you will need to plug your iOS device into a computer and sign them again using the same method.

That’s why it’s always useful to have AppSync because you do not need to perform such action. When AppSync Unified is installed, it “patches installd” so that the certificate don’t expire and you can “download fakesigned IPAs” directly from your iPhone or iPad (via Safari).

If there is any developer out there who want to test out their apps before submitting it to the App Store, AppSync can aid your development by allowing installation of self-signed iOS apps.

Without further ado, here is how to install the AppSync tweak on your jailbroken iOS 9.x.x

How to Install AppSync on iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Cydia > Sources
  2. Tap Edit and choose Add
  3. Enter the following URL: http://cydia.angelxwind.net/
  4. When done adding Karen’s repo, refresh Cydia
  5. You can either go straight to the new repo or using the Search feature. Look for AppSync Unified and install it

As soon as you select Respring after the downloading process, AppSync will start working right away. There is no preference page for you to configure.

It’s important to know that AppSync Unified was released to serve several purposes.

  • Remove the struggle of using Cydia Impactor or Xcode to sideload your own apps
  • Assists in application development for iOS developers

With that being said, you should never use this tweak for iOS piracy. The developer of AppSync Unified, Karen (@angelXwind on Twitter), has put together this post on the r/Jailbreak subreddit to tell you more about this problem.

AppSync for iOS 10

For those who you who jailbroke your iOS 10 device know that AppSync Unified doesn’t work on the firmware yet but the tweak is still installable. However, once installed, the package will put your iPhone into bootloop. In other words, users will see the never ending restart on their device.

Today, developer Karen and JulioVerne has put out an update to AppSync that finally support jailbroken iOS 10 devices. You can install it using the same method above.

Changelog:

  • Return the public “Apple iPhone OS Application Signing” intermediate certificate instead of kSecMagicBytes on iOS 10 to avoid a Security.framework crash — thanks JulioVerne!

  2. Jailbroke my iPad and iPhone. Was interested in changing root password, then remembered this terminal is filled with people remotely accessing it, so all keystrokes would be pointless to hide, thus the root password as well (to, you know, keep people out….) so I simply downgraded my reading material from CVE, SSh to AppSync. There’s no problem. I know i cant eject remote admins so I’m just looking at the less complex of issues, which in this case is reading bout Appsync. Unless you know where to report a Rufi Rapo.
